Chia Seed Lemonade

Chia seeds…one of my favourite things. They are fibrous, high in Omega 3, packed with protein…I could go on. Somehow I always manage to incorporate them into conversations which naturally leads to the question

So how do you use them?

There are so many ways! For me the most amazing is in baking as an egg replacement which is how I first stumbled across them.

I often add chia seeds to smoothies and I have recently started adding them to my homemade lemonade which I find to be a refreshing and energising beverage.

Here’s how.

Ingredients

Makes 1 serving

1 glass of water

1 tsp of chia seeds

1/2 lemon

1 tsp of honey

Method

Prep: 2 mins Cook Time: 10 mins Ready in: 12 mins

Info: Agave syrup can be used in place of honey, as can any other sweetener.

  • Fill one glass with drinking water
  • Stir in the chia seeds
  • Leave for 10 mins
  • Squeeze in the juice of half a lemon
  • Stir in the honey
  • Serve

I’ll be posting other chia seed recipes in the near future, how do you use yours?
